Transfer rumour: Port Vale strongly linked with loan move for youngster
Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Port Vale are set to seal a loan move for Southampton youngster Diamond Edwards.
The young player has been training with the Vale squad over the summer as Darren Moore assesses the player. According to Nixon, Southampton are now keen to give the player more experience by sending him out on loan.
It now appears likely that Edwards will join Brighton forward Benicio Baker-Boaitey in joining the club on loan.
Edwards joined the Southampton academy from Reading in 2019. He has had a brief taste of senior football, coming off the bench for Southampton in a League Cup tie against Cambridge United in 2022. Edwards has also been a regular for the club’s Under-18 and Under-21 sides.
The versatile player can play in the centre or down the flanks.

Vale seem to have some good contacts with clubs who see Vale as a club who look after their youngsters.
