Port Vale CEO Matt Hancock has told Michael Baggaley’s The Valiant newsletter that defender Lewis Cass will depart Vale Park at the end of his contract.
The future of the defender was unclear as he had yet to discuss his future with the club, having been on loan at Stockport County, when the club’s retained list was announced.
Hancock told the newsletter “Lewis Casswith be leaving Vale so it is thanks to Lewis for his time at the club.”
The former Newcastle United defender initially joined the club on loan during the 2021-22 season before joining on a permanent basis in the summer of 2022.
He made a total of 72 appearances for the club, scoring twice. He also spent the second-half of last season on loan at Stockport County, making nine appearances and scoring once.

We really didn’t want to lose players like Lewis Cass fear he may be followed by Garrity Ripley and Chislett hope I am wrong it’s a bit worrying
The exodus is on ,goodness knows what.will happen if Ripley, Garrity and Chislett move on and also Dipepa.
It annoying I read and see opposition buying new forwards and what’s happening at the Vale nowt. Sod the shirts get in players and then more shirts will be sold.
He wasn’t selected for Stockport at the latter part of his loan when he was fit
Why are you getting rid he is a good player & when are we going to sign some players all the other clubs are snapping up players
Bit gutted about this. Was a player in him, but we did not get the best out of him. Not saying he will go on to do well, but he is certainly better than some who will play for the Vale next season.
