Editorial notes
- This is a list of players we are aware of. There are probably others too. If so please feel free to let us know via the comments at the bottom of this article.
- It only contains players who were contracted at Port Vale FC at the time of the appearance, not players who had left the club or players who were at the club on loan.
Brian Mills – England U19 – 1 cap
The young striker had progressed through the junior ranks to make the senior squad. Following a two goal debut at the end of the 1990-91 season he was selected in the England U19 squad for the FIFA World Youth Championship in the summer of 1991. He made one appearance against Uruguay. Sadly, Mills’ football career was ended by injury soon afterwards.
Joe Anyon – England U17 – 3 caps
The goalkeeper had previous England youth experience during his time at Blackburn Rovers but played three times for the England U17 while in the Port Vale youth team, turning professional the following season. Anyon went on to make 118 senior appearances for the Valiants.
Mark Chamberlain – England Youth – 2 caps
The dazzling winger would go on to win eight senior caps following his transfer to Stoke City but he had already made two appearances for the England juniors while on Vale’s books.
Alan Bennett – England Youth – unknown number of caps
Bennett was a member of the Port Vale youth team in the 1940’s where he made a number of appearances for the England Youth team. He graduated to the Vale senior team in 1949 and made a total of 129 appearances.
Baylee Dipepa – England U17 – three caps four goals
The only Port Vale player that we are aware of scoring for the junior ranks, at time of writing, the young striker is averaging better than a goal a game.

Mark Chamberlain what a player,I remember the goalkeeper for Mansfield throwing the ball out of his hands ready to kick it up field,Chamberlain had run around the back of the Mansfield goal, got the ball and stuck it in the net, that game was one of the best away wins for Vale I have ever seen his speed was phenomenal

On his day, Mark Chamberlain was the best winger produced in the Potteries since Stanley Matthews. Unfortunately recurring hamstring injuries hampered his career potential. A superb talent with blistering pace.
