“Underlying injury issue” – Port Vale loanee returns to club without making an appearance
Port Vale have announced that Liverpool defender Rhys Williams has returned to Anfield due to an “underlying injury issue.”
Williams was signed in January after a loan spell at Aberdeen was cut short without the player making any League appearances. Then Aberdeen manager Barry Robson explained the lack of gametime as “Rhys came up injured and has struggled.”
Despite that warning, Williams signed on loan with the Valiants having apparently passed a medical at Vale Park and the news that he now has to return due to injury will be an embarrassment for the club.
The Port Vale statement said:
Port Vale FC can confirm that central defender, Rhys Williams, has returned to Liverpool.
Following the emergence of an underlying injury issue, Rhys Williams has returned to Liverpool to continue his rehabilitation for the remainder of the season.
We would like to wish Rhys all the very best in his future career and thank Liverpool for their understanding throughout.
