Rumour: Darren Moore linked to Port Vale manager’s role
According to respected journalist Alan Nixon, Darren Moore is Port Vale’s number one target to replace Andy Crosby.
Crosby was dismissed after the 3-0 loss to Fleetwood Town and according to Nixon the appointment of Moore is the club’s top priority. Nixon said that Moore may be open to a quick turnaround with the Valiants apparently looking to install a new boss as soon as possibility. Moore’s experience and win ratio may also make him a more attractive prospect for Vale fans than some of the other names linked to the position.
Moore was last in charge of Championship side Huddersfield Town before departing on the 29th January. The 49 year-old won promotion with Sheffield Wednesday in 2023. He also enjoyed a lengthy playing career which included over a hundred games for West Brom and International appearances for Jamaica.

Vale’s prospects of steering clear of relegation would likely take a giant leap forward under the experienced Moore, an experienced and reliable EFL Manager.
Failing that, Gary Bowyer would be a comparable appointment. Decent track with two EFL play off appearances, led Dundee to the Scottish Championship title and was also that division’s Manager of the Year 2023. When manager of Blackburn he even masterminded the 4-1 defeat of EPL Stoke in the 2015 FA Cup.

From a West Brom fan that happens to live in Stoke, but loves the Valiants.
I think this could be a great appointment. He’ll bring a load of passion and players get behind him.
Hope it happens

Sheffield Wednesday couldn’t afford him so how on earth can we, no chance! no one but the most desperate out of work manager will come to the Vale and be another scapegoat for Flitcroft’s appalling failings. As long as Carol keeps that clown in power the club is only going one way .

Please no! When Wednesday came to Vale last season I couldn’t believe a manager like Darren could encourage such cheating, play acting, and feigning injuries. I don’t want to be watching a team like that.
