Port Vale travelling supporters to be refunded for abandoned Reading game
Port Vale have announced that travelling fans who attended the abandoned game against Reading will receive a full refund.
The match was called off after 16 minutes as Reading fans protested on the pitch against the financial mismanagement of their club. Vale fans were praised for their actions in supporting the protests and Reading fans have subsequently donated to the John Rudge statue appeal as a thank you. The match will be replayed on Tuesday 20th February.
Port Vale have now issued these instructions to fans who attended the game:
- Supporters who purchased their tickets online will have their refund processed automatically, this will happen between Monday 22nd and Wednesday 31st January.
- Supporters who purchased their tickets in person will need to come to the club store from Monday 22nd January 2024 with the ticket and bank statement/proof of purchase, the refund will be processed immediately.
- Supporters who purchased tickets on the day will need to bring your proof of purchase (ticket) to the club store from Monday 22nd January 2024 and theh refund will be processed immediately.
Refunds will begin to be processed over the next week and will be completed by Wednesday 31st January.
Port Vale CEO Matt Hancock told the official website: “I’m pleased that through positive conversations starting with Carol (Shanahan), the supporters club and various staff at Reading we have been able to reach this outcome for our supporters who travelled to Berkshire on 13th January. I’d like to thank Reading who have worked with us throughout the process which has meant that we can start to get the refunds processed as soon as possible.”
