“Observations are OK” – Barrow manager gives update after worrying head injury to former Port Vale favourite
Former Port Vale winger David Worrall is reported to be “OK” after suffering a head injury which required ten minutes of treatment before the wideman was stretchered off and taken to hospital.
The worrying scene occurred during Barrow’s game with Wrexham which also saw another Barrow player – Luca Stephenson – also stretchered off with another head injury.
Worrall, a firm fans’ favourite during his time in Burslem, made 248 appearances for the Valiants during a six year stay. He left the club in the summer to join Barrow.
After play eventually resumed, Wrexham posted: “Play has resumed after David Worrall was stretchered off after a collision. Our thoughts are with you, David.” As the substitution was confirmed, Barrow posted: “Our thoughts are with you Wozza.”
Speaking about Worrall’s injury after the game, Barrow manager Pete Wild told the media: “David Worrall’s been taken to hospital, he was knocked clean out. He’s now awake and his observations are okay, so that’s good to hear. Luca was knocked out as well. He didn’t need to go to hospital but was quite dazed from the challenge.”
The clash drew sympathy from Wrexham’s high profile co-owner Ryan Reynolds who took to social media to say: “Hoping @BarrowAFC players, David Worrall and Luca Stephenson are okay. Scary few minutes there.”
