Port Vale teenager secures loan move
Port Vale’s 16 year-old defender Jack Shorrock has joined Stafford Rangers on loan, the Northern Premier League Premier Division have announced.
Highly rated Shorrock who is still only sixteen years of age, has already made six senior appearances for the Valiants and is highly rated by the club. He became the youngest player in the club’s history at the age of 15 years and 145 days when he came on as a substitute at Shrewsbury Town in the group stages of the Football League Trophy on 20th September 2022. He made his League One debut on the last day of the 2022–23 season, aged 16 years and nine days, he became the youngest player to represent the club in League competition since Stuart Chapman in May 1967
The Vale clearly see this move as a chance to give the left-sided defender more experience of first-team football.
We can confirm the signing of highly rated defender Jack Shorrock from Port Vale on work experience until early January. Comfortable on the left side of defence Jack, although only 16 years old, has first team experience and will be available for selection this evening for our match against Whitby Town.
Shorrock could also link up with former Port Vale striker AJ Leitch-Smith who is currently on the books at Rangers.
