Injured Port Vale loan duo will miss midweek cup tie
Port Vale manager Andy Crosby says that Ollie Arblaster and Alfie Devine will both sit out the Football League Trophy clash at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.
Crosby says the duo are injured but they are not “major” and the influential pair could return to action soon. The news is a blow for the Valiants especially as James Plant, who came into the team on Saturday when Arblaster and Devine were ruled out, was himself injured with a shoulder injury.
Crosby told the media: “I think (the injuries to Arblaster and Devine) it is a consequence of playing international football and the load their bodies are put through.
“They obviously play a home game and travel away, it is a lot of sitting around and boredom. They come back to us and are right back in the thick of it.
“We think that is the cause. We don’t think it is anything major, but both players missed (Stevenage) and we will miss them on Tuesday night as well.”
Both Arblaster and Devine have been regulars in the Vale starting XI since joining. Arblaster has earned rave reviews and made twenty two appearances, scoring once. Devine’s impact has been more sporadic but he was in an excellent run of form before this injury hit. He has made eighteen appearances and scored three times.
