“We played exactly how the gaffer wants to play” – Uche Ikpeazu on Port Vale’s win over Burton
Striker Uche Ikpeazu was full of praise for his team mates after a depleted Valiants side defeated Burton Albion 2-0 to reach the second round of the FA Cup.
The Valiants were missing a number of players through injury and International call-ups but they comfortably won Tuesday night’s replay 2-0 with Ikpeazu playing a key role as he played a full game for the first time since joining the club.
The striker told the media: “It’s amazing for the team, a great achievement. We played exactly how the gaffer wants to play, which suits the team and suits myself. We need to keep up the momentum and get some wins in the League as well.”
Ikpeazu is delighted to be a Valiants player after being out in the cold at his previous club in Turkey and he added: “I’ve come into a great football club and a great set of players and I’m privileged coming to a good group of players and a good team, it’s an easier transition for myself. I thank the gaffer and Carol (Shanahan) and everyone who’s played a part in me coming to the football club. I appreciate the people at the football club that brough me here and I hope I can repay them.”
The forward also had praise for the Vale fans who have got behind the forward commenting: “Yes, it’s nice. They’ve been good with me and they’ve been patient with me as well. Hopefully I can repay them with some goals soon.”
