Legendary Port Vale manager John Rudge’s book goes on sale
Port Vale managerial great John Rudge’s autobiography “To Cap it all” goes on sale this week.
Written in partnership with Simon Lowe, the highly anticipated book details Rudge’s life in football including his lengthy spell in charge of the Valiants.
Rudge has spent sixty years in the game as both player and manager and was named as the winner of the EFL Contribution to League Football award in 2021. He managed Port Vale for a sixteen-year period between 1983 and 1999 and masterminded some of the club’s most successful campaigns, leading them to promotion in 1985–86, 1989 and 1993–94; he also led them to the Anglo-Italian Cup final in 1996, and to victory in the Football League Trophy final in 1993.
The book also contains forewords by Sir Alex Ferguson, Robbie Williams and Carol Shanahan. It’s surely a must-read for all Port Vale fans.
Proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards the John Rudge statue appeal.
