Double injury blow for the Valiants as duo ruled out for eight weeks
Port Vale manager Andy Crosby says Conor Grant and James Wilson could face up to eight weeks out after both picked up calf injuries.
Left wingback Grant was injured during the League game against Portsmouth while Wilson limped out of a Football League Trophy clash with Newcastle U21.
Crosby told the media: “Unfortunately we’re probably looking at eight weeks (out) for Conor (Grant). A calf (injury) which is frustrating for us as we’d obviously taken our time, tried to build him up. He’d done two ninety minutes the previous week. It’s a similar unfortunate diagnosis with Wilo (James Wilson) as well in terms of time scale. We’ve had three calf injuries in ten days now with Alex (Iocovitti), Conor and James.
“We’ve got players in the squad that can now come in and get an opportunity and step in and go and grab the opportunity. Injuries are unfortunately part of the game.”
The manager gave better news on strikers Ryan Loft and Uche Ikpeazu. Loft is recovering from injury while Ikpeazu is building up match fitness and Crosby said: “Ryan and Uche joined in training on Monday for the first time so they’re progressing, probably one slightly ahead of the other. We’re building both players up.”
