Port Vale confirm sale of youngster to Aston Villa
Port Vale have confirmed that teenager Freddie Lawrie has moved to Aston Villa and a compensation fee has been agreed.
The club have made no mention of the amount Villa are paying for the youngster but if press reports are to be believed the sum could be in excess of the £600,000 the Premier League side paid for Omari Kellyman from Derby County.
A Port Vale statement said:
We can confirm that a training compensation agreement has been reached and the transfer of Freddie Lawrie’s registration to Aston Villa has been completed.
The Under-15s central midfielder caught the eye of a number of clubs over the summer but will continue his development at Aston Villa.
Lawrie becomes the second Port Vale Academy player this season to join a Premier League club following Michael Mills’ move to Newcastle United in August.
