How much could Port Vale earn from Freddie Lawrie transfer?
Reports suggest that Aston Villa will pay a club record fee for a youth team player should they sign Port Vale teenager Freddie Lawrie. How much could the club earn?
Lawrie is set to be the second youngster to leave Vale’s academy for a substantial sum this season. The media suggests a deal has been agreed but if so how much could the Valiants potentially earn?
The club will bank around £200,000 from the sale of Michael Mills to Newcastle United but that fee will be paid in installments based on certain criteria so the upfront sum will be relatively small. However, the fee for Lawrie could be significantly higher.
In March 2022, Villa signed 16 year-old Omari Kellyman from Derby County for a fee, reported by the local Derby media to be around £600,000. If the fee for Lawrie is a club record than it stands to reason that the amount for him would be higher than that for Kellyman.
If so, that would represent a massive boost to Vale’s finances.
