I’m happier at Port Vale – midfielder reveals he rejected a summer move
Port Vale vice captain Funso Ojo says he turned down an offer from a rival club to remain with the Valiants this season.
The defensive midfielder agreed a new three year deal with the club this week and he told BBC Radio Stoke that it was prompted by interest from another club.
I kinda said to the family, and to the board that I don’t really want to leave and that I’m happier at Port Vale if there’s an opportunity to stay here any longer…
Ojo commented: “Something came up in the summer and I was interested in it. But when it got close to being done I kinda said to the family, and to the board that I don’t really want to leave and that I’m happier at Port Vale if there’s an opportunity to stay here any longer and they were happy that I said something like that. So then we got talking about a potential new deal and we got it sorted.”
The midfielder was speaking as part of an interview for the BBC Stoke Sport at Six programme with popular Port Vale presenter Phil Bowers. You can listen to the latest episode through this link – https://t.co/CesXxNfQ39
The defensive midfielder has been a big success since joining the Valiants in the summer of 2022. To date, he has made 33 appearances and scored twice.
