Darrell Clarke reaction – we take the point
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke felt his side dominated the 1-1 away draw with Fleetwood but was satisfied to take a point home.
Vale took the lead through Matty Taylor’s first goal and had other chances to stretch their lead before the home side pulled a goal back.
Clarke told the media: “We could have (won) but I am pleased with the performance. Again, we haven’t been able to train on grass since Tuesday and have had some illness in the camp. I thought the boys were tremendous. We just have to finish our chances.
“We had a couple of great chances in the game and we are frustrated that we conceded another goal from a set piece. The effort, commitment and some of the quality at times was very good, so we take the point.
“I thought we dominated quite large periods of the game to be honest with you, with control, with the ball and without it. It wasn’t to be for the three points but I still thought it was a good performance.”
