Scrapbook clippings – more Vale shots from the sixties
With thanks to David Brown, we have three photos of Port Vale in action in the late 1960s.
This first photo comes from Port Vale’s game against Bradford Park Avenue. It took place on the 2nd March 1968 and finished in a thumping 4-0 win for the Valiants. The goalscorers were Roy Chapman (2), Mick Morris and an own-goal. The following year Bradford were to lose their League status.
The second set of clippings comes from Port Vale’s home game against Workington in September 1967. It was noticeable as it included Harry Poole’s final goal in a Vale shirt. Poole was released at the end of the season after 499 appearances and 79 goals. The game itself ended in a thrilling 4-2 win for the Vale as the report shows.
