Port Vale rumour: Valiants linked with young defender
Nottingham Forest defender Aaron Donnelly is set to head to Port Vale on loan, according to Sky Sports News.
The 19-year old left-sided defender made his debut for the Forest senior team this season, playing the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 FA Cup win over fourth tier side Grimsby Town.
The teenager joined Nottingham Forest from Dungannon Swifts, who he had played for since he was twelve, in 2019. He also played against Port Vale in a 2021 pre-season friendly game at Vale Park.
The Valiants have lost three players so far in the window – with Connor Hall, Brad Walker and Harry Charsley all departing.
Forest have loaned players to Vale Park in the past with limited success. Will Swan struggled for game time but prior to that, Jake Taylor impressed enough to earn a permanent move. Tyler Walker also did well before injury caused his move to end prematurely. Loanee Adam Crookes did enough to earn a permanent move but midfielder Toby Edser failed to make a single first-team appearance.
