Port Vale confirm departure of central midfielder
Port Vale FC have confirmed that midfielder Harry Charsley has left to join League Two side Newport County.
Charsley has struggled for game time this season despite being named as the man of the match in Vale’s opener against Fleetwood.
Director of Football David Flitcroft told the official Port Vale website: “At this stage of the season we’re looking to review the numbers, sustainability and efficiency levels of the playing staff – Harry’s ability in training has been high, but due to the competition in front of him the minutes on the pitch haven’t been available.
“All players will get frustrated when not being involved on match day, but no one more than Harry, he trains to his maximum ability every day and he is an outstanding professional.
“When you train to the levels he does, you want that match day feeling at the end of the week, but when you’re not getting that and you have so much to offer, you can become disillusioned.
“He played a big part in the promotion winning season, but unfortunately this season has found his way out of the team.
“Newport really wanted him, and it’s a great opportunity for him to go be a top player for them.
“I’d like to wish him well with his new challenge and thank him for the incredible professionalism he has shown at the club”
