Darrell Clarke gives Lewis Cass injury update – hoping he’s going to be OK
Speaking after the Forest Green Rovers game, Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke has given the media an update on defender Lewis Cass’s condition.
The Valiants won 3-1 at Rovers on New Year’s Day but the game itself was overshadowed by what appeared to be a significant injury to Cass. A collision saw substitute Cass lying prone on the ground and receiving extensive treatment before being stretchered off. The delay led to over sixteen minutes of additional time being added to the game.
We are hoping he is going to be OK, a bit of concussion but hopefully he should be OK…
However, Clarke has given a cautiously upbeat assessment of Cass’s condition telling the media: “He is fortunately walking round. He felt a crack in his neck, it was a really bad landing. The medical team’s response was outstanding. We are hoping he is going to be OK, a bit of concussion but hopefully he should be OK.”
The Port Vale manager also paid tribute to another substitute, Mipo Odubeko who scored the equaliser. Clarke added: “Mipo has been training outstandingly. He has had an illness and is coming back from that otherwise he would have probably started the game I am really pleased for him to get his goal, and then for us to go on to pick up the three points.”
