Politic hits two as Port Vale defeat Newcastle Town
A very strong Port Vale side put Newcastle Town to the sword in the Staffordshire Senior Cup with Dennis Politic scoring twice.
The Valiants included the likes of Lewis Cass, Connor Hall, Politic, Tom Pett and Harry Charsley in their line-up on Monday evening.
Vale led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Thierry Small and Politic. Politic then got his second in the second-half before Liam McCarron made it four on 69 minutes. However, the home side at least scored a consolation in the 74th minute as it ended 4-1 to the Valiants.
Small was unlucky not to add to his solitary goal as he hit the woodwork twice and also had an effort disallowed for offside while Dan Buterworth was unlucky not to make it five in the closing moments.
It was a good workout for some of the Vale players not currently in the starting eleven as they challenge for places for the game against Derby County.
