Veteran Port Vale defender leaves the club
Port Vale have announced that defender Chris Hussey has left the club following a mutual termination of his contract.
Hussey has signed for Stockport County, ironically the opponents for Hussey’s last match and also his only goal for the Valiants.
Hussey played his part in the promotion campaign last season after signing from Cheltenham Town in January. However, this season, Vale are well stocked on the left flank with Mal Benning, Thierry Small and Dan Jones all able to play there.
A club statement said:
Port Vale Football Club can confirm that defender Chris Hussey has joined Stockport County following the mutual termination of his contract at Vale Park.
Hussey, 33, joined Vale earlier this year and made a total of 23 appearances for the club, including 15 starts as Darrell Clarke’s side won promotion to League One via the Play-Offs.
Manager Darrell Clarke said: “We’d like to thank Chris for his time spent with us at Vale park in which he helped us to get promoted out of League Two.
“He is a model professional and it was great to have a character like him in the changing room, we wish him all the best at Stockport County and with this rest of his career.”
All at Port Vale Football Club would like to wish Chris well in his future career.
