Rhys Walters player profile
Teenage midfielder Rhys Walters made his first-team debut for the Valiants in the closing stages of their 2-0 Football League Trophy win over Wolves B in October 2022.
He was then handed his full Port Vale debut in a League Cup game against Crewe Alexandra in August 2023. Walters was a regular in the Port Vale squad in the closing stages of the 2023-24 season making five League starts.
His career then stalled through prolonged contract negotiations and injury before he finally agreed a three and a half year professional contract in January 2025.
His return was a revelation as he earned high praise playing a key part in the club’s promotion to League One. Surprisingly, it took a while for him to get regular football during the 2025-26 season but when he did break through he was a regular pick and he also managed to score his first senior goal as well.
