Video footage appears to show Bolton Wanderers “goal” at Port Vale was correctly ruled out
A post on Twitter appears to show that the ball was indeed cleared off the Port Vale goaline during a goal attempt in the 0-0 game between Bolton Wanderers and Port Vale on Saturday.
The effort has prompted some debate online after the referee disallowed the effort despite furious protests from Bolton players. After the game, Bolton striker Amadou Bakayoko appearing to query the disallowed effort on Twitter.
He posted:
Cleared off the line 👀👀
Anyways unbelievable shift from everyone today we stick together and keep fighting thank you for the away support massively appreciated 🫶🏾👏🏾 https://t.co/tOiO7peSaI

However, the angle of the photo used in his tweet may be deceptive, despite several Bolton supporters saying that the ball was “several feet” over the line.
This video from another angle appears to show that the ball never fully crossed the line before Port Vale defender Nathan Smith managed to clear it.
Right then #pvfc and #bwfc fans, best view of that goal line clearance from last week – No Goal pic.twitter.com/KDwBX4TGhl

No doubt the debate will continue but as for the match itself – that finished in a goalless draw.
