Port Vale rumour mill – Valiants linked with Morecambe striker
Journalist Alan Nixon says Port Vale have joined the chase for Morecambe striker Cole Stockton and are prepared to outbid rivals Fleetwood Town for the forward.
The Valiants are looking for a new forward after top-scorer James Wilson suffered and injury. Darrell Clarke signed Ellis Harrison recently – ironically from transfer rivals Fleetwood. However, midfielder Ben Garrity played upfront on Saturday with Vale short of numbers upfront.
Stockton, who made last season’s PFA League One team of the season, has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Morecambe and with 26 goals in League One last season, he is sure to be in demand.
According to Nixon, who correctly predicted Jake Taylor’s move to Morecambe, the Valiants, Shrewsbury Town and Fleetwood are all interested in the £100,000 rated forward.
