Significant double injury blow for Port Vale
The Valiants have received bad news on the fitness of captain Tom Conlon and defender James Gibbons, Andy Crosby has confirmed.
Assistant manager Crosby confirmed the news to the media commenting: “It is not good news on Tom. We went down the route of a certain procedure to try to fix the problem. That unfortunately hasn’t worked so Tom had an operation in London and he is going to miss the rest of the season.
“We are going to miss him, he is going to have to fulfil a different role. We hope he gets fit as soon as possible and he is back available. I know he will do because he is a fantastic professional. Yes, we are going to miss him, but it is now an opportunity for other people.”
On Gibbons, Crosby commented: “James finished the game on Tuesday night with an injury. Thankfully there is no fracture, but we are probably looking at certainly the first week of April at the best case scenario before James is back.”
