Opponents for key Port Vale game suffer “injury crisis”
Exeter City, Port Vale’s opponents for a crunch Tuesday evening game are reportedly down to just one fit central midfielder after an “injury crisis”
The Devon Live website reports:
Exeter City are facing a midfield injury crisis after suffering two blows during their 2-0 win away to Oldham Athletic that took them second in the League Two table.
Kyle Taylor, who scored his first goal for the Grecians to break the deadlock, was stretched off midway through the second half with a serious looking knee injury. Tim Dieng meanwhile was taken off at half time with a hamstring issue that looks likely to put him on the sidelines for Tuesday’s trip to Port Vale
With Harry Kite still yet to return to training after his groin injury, and Nigel Atangana out for the next three games after his stoppage time sending off, City are down to just one fit midfielder in Archie Collins – and suddenly have only 16 senior professionals available.
Vale themselves are without a number of key players with captain Tom Conlon out for the season, defenders James Gibbons, Dan Jones, Chris Hussey and Aaron Martin all set to miss out and midfielder Jake Taylor also out injured.
The Valiants have now recorded three wins in a row and victory on Tuesday evening could see the Vale enter the play-off places.
