More to come – Andy Crosby praises in-form striker James Wilson
Port Vale interim manager Andy Crosby praised striker James Wilson after another good display proved crucial during the 2-1 win over Bradford City.
Wilson and strike partner Jamie Proctor have been in fine form during Vale’s three game winning streak with Wilson scoring the vital second goal at Valley Parade. It was the forward’s tenth goal of the season for the Valiants.
He is better technically than the level we are currently playing at, but it is great that he has got ten goals and he has to try to get a few more. He is now getting a run of games where he looks like he is getting stronger and stronger…
Crosby told the media: “Willo had an incredible 25 minutes in the second half where the level of his play was really good. I am delighted he got a goal for all that endeavour.
“There is more to come from Willo, there is absolutely more to come. I think he appreciates the surroundings, the culture, the environment we have got. The encouragement he gets and the demands we put on him as well because he wants to be better.
“He is better technically than the level we are currently playing at, but it is great that he has got ten goals and he has to try to get a few more. He is now getting a run of games where he looks like he is getting stronger and stronger. Sometimes he has that languid style and you think he has blown up, he has to come off. But then he goes and produces moments like he did today. Massive credit to him again and I thought Proctor was immense for him.”
