Harrogate Town 1-1 Port Vale – Wilson hits bar in last minute as Valiants are held
Harrogate Town 1-1 Port Vale: the Valiants almost snatched a last-gasp winner on Tuesday, but had to settle for a draw thanks to Ryan Edmondson’s third goal of the season. It means it’s now nine games unbeaten for the Vale.
Andy Crosby brought Joel Cooper and Chris Hussey back into the starting line-up as David Worrall and Jamie Proctor dropped out. Former Valiant Leon Legge missed out for the home side.
Vale made a strong start with Ben Garrity’s header just over and Chris Hussey’s effort deflected wide. Garrity headed wide again from a James Gibbons’ free-kick.
However, the home side took the lead with their first effort on target when an attack cut through the Vale defence and Pattison slotted the ball past Holy.
Half-time: Harrogate 1-0 Port Vale
Vale made a switch at the break with Martin coming on for Walker but it was the home side who piled on the pressure in the opening period of the second-half with both Jack Diamond and Muldoon having chances.
Vale came back into the game with a couple of chances for Joel Cooper before Ryan Edmondson headed home James Gibbons’ cross for his third goal for the club.
It resulted in an entertaining finish and Vale went agonisingly close to winning it with Wilson’s stunning long-range drive hitting the bar in the final minute. It may not have quite been the result Vale wanted but it does at least mean their long unbeaten run continues.
