Rumour: local media claim Port Vale are set to sign wingback
The Gloucestershirelive website claims that Port Vale have agreed a deal to sign experienced wingback Chris Hussey from Cheltenham Town.
According to the newspaper:
Cheltenham Town’s Chris Hussey is set to join League Two Port Vale, with a bid thought to have been accepted for the experienced left wing-back.
The 33-year-old’s contract at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium runs out at the end of next season, but manager Michael Duff has brought in Ben Williams from Barnsley for a five-figure fee on a two-and-a-half year deal and the new arrival now looks set to take over in that role.
The Valiants could well want to strengthen in that position. Vale have sold left-sided defender Ryan Johnson to Stockport and fellow left-sided defender Danny Amos is out of contract in January. Meanwhile, summer signing Mal Benning has failed to nail down a regular starting place in the side. It means that James Gibbons has been the regular starter at left wingback and the club could well be looking to acquire quality back-up/competition for the local youngster during the January window.
