Devante Rodney is sold to Walsall
Port Vale have confirmed that striker Devante Rodney has been sold to League Two rivals Walsall.
The striker has moved for an undisclosed fee.
Rodney has had a up and down Valiants career since he was signed in the summer of 2020. At times he was unplayable during his first season at the club as he finished top scorer with twelve goals and won the young player of the year award.
However, he has struggled to replicate that form this season, thanks in part to a recurring heel injury and has netted just once in seventeen appearances.
At 23 years of age, Walsall will no doubt be hoping that the player can continue to develop but in contrast Vale fans will point to a player who has yet to be consistent despite over 150 career appearances.
Vale are still missing the injured Jamie Proctor upfront but despite Rodney’s move they can still call upon James Wilson, David Amoo, Kyle Edmonson, Kian Harratt and Joel Cooper.
