Hasn’t played enough – Bolton manager suggests January recall for Dennis Politic is unlikely
Comments by Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt suggest that there will be no January recall for loanee Dennis Politic.
Politic has been a popular addition to the Port Vale ranks after he joined on a season-long loan. Several last-gasp match-winning goals have endeared him to the Valiants supporters but his gametime has been carefully managed as the Valiants are cautious following the forward’s long injury lay-off last season.
There have been concerns that Bolton could invoke a new year recall clause but Evatt appears to take an alternative view of the forward’s spell, suggesting that he needs to be an automatic choice at Vale Park to stand any chance of a recall.
Take out the two goals on Saturday and look at the minutes he has played, it is not enough for Dennis and that is why he went out on loan in the first place…
Evatt told the local media: “The best thing for Dennis is to play regular football and unfortunately for us and for Port Vale he hasn’t done that,.
“It’s brilliant that Dennis scored twice in the FA Cup but not so brilliant that he hasn’t played enough. And it is up to him to get his way into Port Vale’s team and do what he needs to do if he is going to come back to Bolton and get in our team. It is that simple.
“Dennis is a very talented young player but he has to be playing regular football. At the time we couldn’t offer him that and at the moment he is not getting that at Port Vale.
“Take out the two goals on Saturday and look at the minutes he has played, it is not enough for Dennis and that is why he went out on loan in the first place.”
Politic’s minutes on the pitch?
Since joining the club, Politic has played 697 minutes for the Valiants including eight starts across all competitions.
Stats include match against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.
Evatt’s comments suggest that any recall in January is extremely unlikely which will mean the forward will remain with the Valiants until the end of his loan spell. If so, it could mean the forward won’t play for Bolton again.
Politic has been offered a new contract by Wanderers but has not signed it and these comments appear to suggest that his time at Bolton could potentially be coming to an end. If so, the Valiants may be interested in making a permanent bid for a player who appears to be content and settled in Burslem.
Politic told the press: “I am enjoying my time here so far. I am trying to give my best for the team every time I come on the pitch. The staff and the players have been unbelievable with me since the day I joined.”
