Port Vale dealt striker injury blow
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke has confirmed that striker Jamie Proctor will undergo surgery.
The club’s top-scorer this season has missed the last three games and his continued absence will be a blow for the Valiants especially as fellow forward Devante Rodney also has injury problems.
That is going to rule him out for two or three weeks…
However, Vale have James Wilson, David Amoo and George Lloyd as options upfront.
Clarke told a press conference about Proctor saying: “We have had a setback with Jamie Proctor unfortunately. He is having a hernia operation today so we are disappointed with that because it wasn’t caught on the first scan we had. Then there was still discomfort, he went in for the second one, and ultrasound scan, and we noticed he has a hernia problem. So, that is going to rule him out for two or three weeks.
“Devante Rodney is an ongoing issue (he has a heel injury) but we are hoping to get to the bottom of that, so will see how we are. But the group is in a really vibrant, good place at the minute.”
