“Play it by ear” – Bolton say they’ve had no contact with Dennis Politic after he rejected new contract
The possibility of Dennis Politic making a long-term move to Vale Park may be a little more likely after parent club confirmed that there has been no dialogue with the forward since he rejected a contract offer.
Politic will be out of contract with Wanderers at the end of the season and he was offered a new deal before he was sent on loan to Vale Park for the whole of this season. However, the forward turned down the contract offer.
We made him an offer. That offer was politely declined so for now we’ll play it by ear…
It means Politic’s future from the New year is the subject of some speculation. Bolton could recall the winger in January but that would seem to be an unlikely move if the forward is unwilling to commit his future to Wanderers at the moment. It is more likely that Bolton will let the forward remain in Burslem for the remainder of the season. That would mean the forward would potentially become a free agent in the summer.
Politic has impressed with some skilful play in a Vale shirt and a permanent move would undoubtedly be of interest to the Valiants, especially if this season turns out to be a success. However, the forward’s wages may prevent a permanent Vale move, he could still decide to sign with his parent club or he could opt for a move elsewhere.
Bolton manager Ian Evatt told the Bolton Evening News: “I don’t think we’ve had any further dialogue with Dennis or his agent. As I said, we made him an offer. That offer was politely declined so for now we’ll play it by ear and see how things develop.”

Watching the game against Bradford City live on Sky left many Port Vale fans frustrated, let’s be honest it wasn’t our best performance but having said that a point against another promotion contender isn’t a bad result especially when we didn’t play the way we wanted to. Big decisions change games and Bradford should have been down to 10 men in the first half, what was the referee thinking? We march on to Oldham on Saturday where we get the opportunity to show what we are capable of. Second in the league, you can’t knock it!!! Well done once again to everyone connected to Port Vale Football Club.
