Port Vale could add another defender to their squad
Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke has indicated that the club could still add a free agent player to their first-team squad.
The transfer window closed earlier this week but clubs are still able to add players who are without a club after the window.
Clarke wanted to add a winger and striker during the window and the club duly signed Dennis Politic and loanee George Lloyd.
However, an injury to veteran defender Leon Legge which could see him miss three months of the season saw Clarke indicate that he may also look to add defensive cover.
The Port Vale manager told the media: “We might be adding one more that was out of contract, just to give us a different defensive option and a bit of competition for places.
“But, other than that, it is going to be settled right down. We are going to be working with this group of players and this group have a really good opportunity to move this club forward. All 24 of them, if I make that final addition.”
