It’s been coming – James Wilson on his first Port Vale goal
Striker James Wilson spoke of being “relieved” after netting his first Port Vale goal in a competitive fixture.
Wilson has impressed with skilful play but had been without a goal in his opening eight games for the club. However, he put that to bed with an impressive second-half strike in a 2-0 win over Harrogate Town on Saturday.
Wilson told the media: “It’s been coming the last few weeks I’ve had a few chances so, yeah, just relieved it has finally come and we can move forward.”
The striker says the goal will boost his confidence adding: “The confidence I will get from that is brilliant. I think with everyone confidence gives you a massive boost.”
However, Wilson thinks he gives more than just goals to the side commenting: “I can bring a lot to the team even if I’m not scoring.
“He’s a great partner (Jamie Proctor) and we’ve got the strikers that can come on George, Dave and Devante to come on so we’ve got a great strikeforce.”
