I’m learning a lot – Newcastle Utd defender happy with Port Vale loan spell
On loan Newcastle United defender Lewis Cass says he is “learning a lot” during his loan spell with the Valiants.
Cass has earned praise in recent games after switching to a place in the back three during Vale’s recent unbeaten run.
Cass told the media: “Everyone’s great. I feel at home down here. I’m learning a lot.”
The defender singled out manager Darrell Clarke and his defensive teammates as those helping him to learn, saying of Clarke: “He’s always talking to me, most days, on and off the pitch. We’re always having chats about how I can improve as a person and a player.”
It is the same with the club’s senior defenders with Cass adding: “Nathan Smith talks to me quite a bit about positions and Aaron Martin the same because obviously he’s an experienced head.”
Asked why he decided to join the club on loan Cass commented: “It was the ambition of the club. If I can help do that (ambition) then great.
