Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke says the “freak” injury to veteran defender Leon Legge could see him ruled out for up to three months.
Legge was injured during the first-half of Vale’s draw with Stevenage. Briefing the media, Clarke confirmed the bad news saying: “It’s a freak injury… he’s going to be a while, we had it scanned it’s going to be two or three months, it’s very unfortunate at the start of the season, he’s a rock, but he’ll probably be back sooner than that knowing Leon.”
Legge has been dominant at the back this season and the loss of the veteran will be a blow to the Vale. It’s likely that the experienced Aaron Martin will come into the backline in Legge’s absence. Martin replaced the veteran on Saturday.
However, there was more encouraging news for the club with the news that injured duo Tom Conlon and Jake Taylor are making good progress and are “not a million miles away”. The return of captain Conlon in particular, would be a big boost to the side.
