Former Valiants: Boot u-turn, Foley finds new club
A round-up of the latest moves involving former Port Vale players…
Boot u-turn
Weeks after being surprisingly released by Solihull Moors, goalkeeper Ryan Boot has rejoined the club. His exit earlier in the summer had been a major shock as the keeper had been a near ever-present for three seasons and had been voted the player of the year. Boot told the Non-League Paper: ““I’ve been there three years and not missed a league game so it was a no-brainer when they said they wanted me back and we got the deal done as quick as we could.”
Tranmere swoop for Foley
Former Port Vale midfielder Sam Foley has been signed by League Two rivals Tranmere Rovers. The central midfielder had been released by Scottish side Motherwell at the end of the season. Foley, now 34 years of age has agreed a one year deal.
Cullen’s anxious wait
Former striker Mark Cullen is expected to be unveiled as a Hartlepool United player, but he may face an anxious wait. Cullen was injured in a friendly game and would be understandable if Cullen would be worried that his fitness may be an issue. However, Pools boss Dave Challinor seems optimistic telling the local media: “He’ll miss Saturday, will be out seven to 10 days which doesn’t help us but it is what it is.”
