Lorne Street stand fundraiser to begin again in earnest
Port Vale Supporters Club have announced that publicity to highlight the fundraiser to complete the Lorne Street stand will begin again.
During the last season, Port Vale fans were unable to visit Burslem due to the global pandemic and had to rely on live streaming of games to watch their side in action. Hopefully, that is all due to change next season and the opening of the second-half of the Lorne Street stand would undoubtedly be the icing on the cake.
A fundraiser to raise the money to complete the stand was started in 2019. However, as many fans were encountering financial difficulties last season, fundraising for the stand was put on hold.
How nice would it be for it to be completely finished. It looks good with seats in, but it would look even better with people in so that’s why we want to get that funding in place…
However, efforts are now due to step up and Port Vale Supporters Club chief Mark Porter told the Sentinel newspaper: “We didn’t feel it was right before. People were on mortgage holidays or were losing their jobs and there were a lot more important things going on.
“So, although we didn’t stop anybody, we didn’t think it was right to publicly ask for any money.
“But if anyone wants to donate now then we can kick start that again. That would be phenomenal and really help.

The club announced that popstar Robbie Williams would be playing a charity concert during the summer of 2019 and to meet safety requirements for the gig, the club installed seats into the unfinished half of the stand.
Unfortunately, it also announced that it would cost a further £100,000 to renovate the concourse area so that the stand could be used next season. Without an operational concourse (with exits, a food bar and toilets etc) the new seats would be unable to be used during the Football League season.
With the club’s owners having other spending priorities, the Supporters Club have launched this appeal to raise the £100,000 which would finally complete the stand. The Lorne Street stand has been incomplete for 22 years and it would be a huge boost to see the stand fully open.
