Match details:
Teams: Crawley Town v Port Vale
Competition: League Two
Venue: Broadfield Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 27th March, 3pm
Form guide:
The Valiants will be hoping to make it three wins in a row and a further step away from danger at the bottom of the table. Crawley had been in decent form but their last two games have resulted in a draw and a loss. However, their home form is impressive with no defeats in their last five fixtures.
Port Vale team news:
The Valiants’ squad strength will doubtless be boosted by the return of veteran Tom Pope. The forward played in a closed doors friendly match after recovering from a broken arm. However, Pope is likely to be on the bench with Darrell Clarke expected to stick with front duo Devante Rodney and Theo Robinson. Defender Zak Mills missed out in midweek but may be fit enough to be in contention. However, he may face a tough task to dislodge Shaun Brisley who did well against Colchester United.
Possible Starting XI:
Brown – Smith, Legge, Brisley – Worrall, Joyce, Conlon, Oyeleke, Montano – Rodney, Robinson
One to watch:
Devante Rodney’s recent form has earned praise after two goals in a week. Can the youngster make it three goals in three games against Crawley?
Opposition manager:
Manager John Yems has been in charge since December 2019 – his first managerial role. He has a win ratio of 39% from 61 games.

Forward Max Watters is the top scorer in the League with thirteen goals. He’s two ahead of fellow forward Tom Nicholls. The experienced Glenn Morris is the regular goalkeeper. Experienced Jordan Tunnicliffe has been a regular in defence while Jake Hessenthaler is also a regular in midfield.
Connections:
There are no players in either squad who have played for the opposition. However, there have been a number of players to appear for both sides over the years.
Striker Tyrone Barnett (pictured) scored fourteen goals in the 2011-12 season for Crawley. His spell at Vale Park was less successful with just two goals in 28 games.
Midfielder Nathan Ferguson has a spell at Vale Park making just a solitary appearance but had a far more successful time at Crawley making 52 appearances and scoring seven times.
Another striker Callum Willock had brief spells with both clubs while winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie had loan spells with both sides.
Last time we met:
The two sides met in the opening fixture of the season when striker Mark Cullen scored twice in a 2-0 Port Vale win. Vale’s last visit to Crawley ended in a goalless draw last season. In fact the Valiants have an excellent away record against Crawley. They have won four out of six games.
The stats:
Overall record: 7 Port Vale wins | 3 Port Vale losses | 2 draws
