Supporters on the OVF forum have been giving their reaction to the 1-1 draw with Colchester United on Saturday afternoon.

We look like a side determined to snatch mid-table mediocrity from the jaws of a play-off push…

Played well, some outstanding passages of play from us, then went to sleep. Not a lot more to say about the game really…

How many times do we concede a goal shortly after scoring? How many times do we hear the phrase “gone to sleep” when describing an opposition goal? It’s too coincidental now. Its plain bad coaching. So frustrating…

Yet another game where we’re missing a clinical striker. Pope should be playing. The season appears to be petering out with a whimper. Frustrating as hell…

We played some fantastic one and two touch football on many occasions, sadly one lapse of concentration cost us but i cannot fault the effort from the players and we cannot blame Askey one bit for the result…

Manny had a great game and was the stand out player, should have had a penalty too!

I’d much rather us create lots of chances and not finish them now and again than create nothing. Sooner or later it will click if we continue to play like we have done this last week…

I’d love to know what has happened to that defence. Looked solid last season and the start of this. Looks the complete opposite now. I’ll be much happier when gibbons is back in the side. Rodney definitely has something, I’d still like to see him out wide and have a proper striker up top. Really happy to see Hurst given a go and hope that continues…

Overall, a good performance today. Thought the midfield 3 had a good game – were really busy getting about the pitch. They looked comfortable on the ball. Also think Fitz is looking like a decent player. He’s trying to get forward a bit more and looks quite composed on the ball…

We’re not where we are because Clark hasnt played well or because Gibbo is missing or because Mills has made mistakes it’s because all over the pitch the cumulative effect of players missing through injury, (Amoo, Gibbo, Monty, Manny for a spell), players not hitting form for spells (Legge, Joyce, Burgess, Worrall, Smith), players missing chances and making crucial defensive mistakes has seen us struggle and drop points. It’s a team effort and as a team we haven’t played as well as we were doing at times last season…

A frustrating game, I though we played decent in spells in the game but we still lack that quality striker who would have won us that game today. While being in the top 6 I thought Colchester were bang average and it goes to show what a mediocre league it is. I felt we do miss Monty when he is not playing, Hurst did OK but Monty is a massive threat and has goals in him when played further forward. We are seriously lacking in goals from midfield, with Manny, Joyce and Conlon, you are going to be lucky to get many goals from open play between them…

Rodney is looking a real find but as a striker he drifts out wide or as per his goal ends up 40 yards from goal looking for the ball. That’s the issue when we are pinging crosses in as he’s not looking for it coming in. That’s experience maybe but if a lone striker he just needs to be in the those positions to finish the moves…
