Port Vale match still on despite Scunthorpe player’s positive Covid-19 test
Port Vale’s Carabao Cup game against Scunthorpe United will go ahead on Saturday despite an opposition player testing positive for coronavirus.
A Scunthorpe statement said:
Scunthorpe United Football Club can confirm that one of its players has returned a positive test result following the recent round of COVID-19 testing.
The Club is following all the EFL’s COVID-19 protocols and will not name the player in question. We ask that their request for privacy and confidentiality are respected at this time.
In following those protocols, we can also confirm the home Carabao Cup match against Port Vale on Saturday, September 5th will still go ahead as planned.
The player must now self-isolate in line with EFL guidelines.
The match will be Port Vale’s first competitive game of the new season and will take place at 3pm on Saturday behind closed doors.
