Port Vale manager John Askey was delighted to see midfielder Manny Oyeleke return to first-team action on Tuesday night.
Oyeleke impressed after playing 45 minutes of the Football League Trophy game with Tranmere Rovers. It was the player’s first taste of action since February after he suffered a number of injuries.

The 27 year-old impressed in a midfield holding role and manager John Askey told the Sentinel newspaper: “Considering the amount of time he has been out, I think he was excellent.
“That is why it was important at half-time to get him off. The last thing we want him to do is come out in the second half being tired and not used to playing, and pull up again, so hopefully we can keep him fit.”
