Rhys Browne leaves Port Vale FC – surprise news as winger quits
Rhys Browne leaves Port Vale: Port Vale have announced the surprise departure of winger Rhys Brown after the club confirmed that it was decided to “mutually terminate his contract.”
Browne agreed a new one-year deal in the summer and had looked sharp in the side’s pre-season friendly games.
A brief official Port Vale FC statement confirmed:
Port Vale Football Club have agreed to a request from Rhys Browne to mutually terminate his contract with the club.
We wish Rhys all the best for the future.
Browne joined the Valiants on a free transfer in the summer of 2019 and after a slow start on the sidelines, he forced his way into the starting line-up by the end of the truncated season. He was expected to compete with David Amoo, David Worrall and Cristian Montano for a place on the wing this season.
The winger made fifteen senior appearances for the club and scored a solitary goal during his one year stay in Burslem.
The Valiants will no doubt seek a replacement for Browne to ensure that they have plenty of competition in the wide positions for the new season.
