Port Vale give injury update on duo
Port Vale are hopeful that Mark Cullen and Manny Oyeleke will be fit after recent injury scares.
Oyeleke missed most of last season through injury and has been struck down with another knock which has seen him miss all of the club’s pre-season friendlies so far. The current problem is a calf injury but the Valiants are hopeful he will be back in action next week. A fit Oyeleke will be a huge boost for the club as when fully fit he has looked one of League Two’s best performers.
Striker Mark Cullen also picked up an injury earlier in the summer but has recovered to take part in the club’s friendlies. However, the striker suffered an ankle injury in the friendly game against Nottingham Forest which was played on Tuesday afternoon.
The club are hopeful the injury is not serious with Valiants manager John Askey telling the Sentinel newspaper: “It was his ankle, he seemed to land funny and their player came down the back of him. It looked serious at first but I don’t think it as bad as we think.”
The Valiants will assess Cullen but are hopeful he will be available for the next friendly game – Saturday’s match against Rochdale.
The duo’s record at Vale Park…
Mark Cullen:
25 games / 8 goals
Manny Oyeleke:
40 games / 3 goals
