Port Vale manager John Askey says a summer move for the Leicester City Mitch Clark defender is unlikely.
Clark has had two successful loan spells with the Valiants, filling in at right-back or left-back, and the Vale boss was keen to try and tempt the defender back for a third spell.
With Mitch, his agent and Leicester are going to be looking at clubs that can reimburse the money that he is on. Again, it probably wouldn’t happen until January with Mitch…
However, the Valiants boss was concerned about the cost of contributing to Clark’s wages and decided to opt for a move for long-term target Zak Mills (who can also play in both full-back positions) instead.
However, Askey has not ruled out a possible move for Clark although he doesn’t think anything will happen until the 2021 January transfer window.
Askey told the Sentinel newspaper: “It is always something that you would reconsider because I think he is a really good player. But it is difficult for these lads who are at clubs like Leicester or wherever because the wages are so high now that they sort of price themselves out of the market.
