Former Port Vale players: who has moved where this summer?
We thought it was about time we summed up some of the movements of several former Port Vale players over the summer months.

Former Port Vale players on the move
Quigley signs long-term deal with Barrow
Scott Quigley enjoyed a great season in 2019-20 as his twenty goals helped propel Barrow back into the Football League. The striker has now agreed a fresh three-year deal with the League Two newcomers.
Dodds moves on to Hednesford
Hednesford Town have signed former Port Vale forward Louis Dodds for the 2020-21 season. Dodds spent two spells with the Valiants with the most recent being a loan spell from Chesterfield during the 2018-19 season.
Alnwick moves to a new club
Former Port Vale goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has secured a new club after leaving Glasgow Rangers. Alnwick, who was named the club’s young player of the year in 2016. After a four year stay at Rangers, Alnwick has moved on to Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.
Daniel agrees a pay cut to stay with Burton
Former Port Vale utility man has agreed a reduced contract to remain with cash-strapped Burton Albion. Daniel told the local media: “It’s been a tough number of months without football, but I’m really excited to get back playing and working under the new manager.”
Lawrie Wilson leaves Ebbsfleet
Former Port Vale defender Lawrie Wilson has been released by non-league side Ebbsfleet United. Wilson, now 32, has indicated that he wants to continue his playing career. Commenting on his move, Wilson told the local media: “that’s football, we all move on.”
Gavin Gunning’s Gloucester spell stalled
Defender Gavin Gunning is still waiting to establish himself in the Gloucester City side. The former Port Vale defender left Solihull Moors in March to join Gloucester but the season was cancelled after he made just two appearances for his new club.
Tyler Denton now a free agent
Former Port Vale loanee Tyler Denton is looking for a new club after he was released by Stevenage at the end of the season. Denton joined Port Vale on loan from Leeds United at the start of the 2017-18 season.
Donovan Wilson leaves Macclesfield Town
Another former Port Vale loanee, Donovan Wilson, is also a free agent. Wilson had a loan spell with the Valiants in the 2017-18 season, making eight appearances and scoring once. Wilson was released by Macclesfield Town at the end of this season.
Former Vale duo released by Accrington
Accrington have released two former Valiants. Dimitar Evtimov had a one game loan spell from Nottingham Forest while Wilson Carvalho (right) was a member of the 2013 development squad.
Two former Valiants released by Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town have released former Port Vale loanees Krystian Pearce and Craig Davies (pictured right). The pair were two of eleven players to be released by the club at the end of the season.
Dan Jones released by Cambridge United
Former Port Vale left-back is one of a number of players to be released by League Two side Cambridge United. Jones’ spell at Vale Park ended in controversy after an incident with then captain Doug Loft.
Former Vale veterans released by Salford City
Salford City have released former Port Vale duo Chris Neal and Michael O’Connor. Neal (right) was a key member of the Port Vale 2013 promotion side but he left the club after the emergence of Jak Alnwick.
Sutton departs Morecambe
And finally… League Two side have released former Port Vale defender Richie Sutton. Local lad Sutton played thirteen times for the Vale in the 2010-11 season.
