Premier League agree to give £125m to Football League clubs
After much criticism in the media in recent days, the Premier League have issued a statement including a pledge of £125m to Football League clubs.
The statement comes after a period of increasing criticism of players for not having taken pay cuts, including by the health secretary, Matt Hancock.
The Premier League will advance £125m to the EFL and National League, and give £20m towards the NHS. The £125m given to the League will be a significant help to clubs like the Valiants, whose matchday income has completely dried up.
Top-flight players may ultimately be asked to take a 30% drop in their annual pay, via wage cuts, deferrals or both while the season has been suspended indefinitely.
