Port Vale owner hails players after donation to community work
Port Vale co-owner Carol Shanahan has praised the Port Vale first-team squad after they decided to make a donation to the club’s community projects.
The Valiants’ Port Vale Foundation has earned nationwide praise for their work in the community in recent weeks.
Vale’s Community Efforts
National newspapers The Daily Mirror and The Daily Star have featured stories praising the club’s response to the national lockdown. Co-ordinated by the Shanahan’s Hubb Foundation the Football Club, Foundation, Synectics Solutions & Summit Hospitality have produced and distributed thousands of meals across Stoke-On-Trent. The Mirror stated that Carol has, “recognised her club’s standing within the local community brought with it an obligation to go beyond the traditional scope of a football club and help those in need.”
A tweet from Shanahan explained that money was mistakenly taken from players’ wages to account for food but the squad have asked that rather than being repaid, the money should be directed to the club’s community work.
The news is further confirmation of the huge changes which have occurred at Vale Park since the Shanahans took over. The club is making a huge difference to the local community and its worthy efforts appear to have unified staff and players.
